We are particularly looking for volunteers at Keyworth Advice Centre.

Role Description

Rushcliffe Borough
Advice centres currently in Bingham, Cotgrave, Keyworth, Radcliffe and West Bridgford.

Purpose of Role
To provide information and advice on issues such as debt (currently at Cotgrave, Bingham and Radcliffe only), welfare benefits, tax, housing and consumer issues to the general public, signposting to other services where appropriate.

Responsibilities/role description
• Welcome and greet clients and identify reason or visit
• Conduct interview with client to identify next step(s) to be taken
• Assist with next steps e.g. speaking to creditors, working out a budget, applying for a benefit or signposting to other provision for specialist advice
• Arrange follow up visit if required
• update relevant records

No qualifications are required and full training will be given but we do require you to;
• be good at listening
• have a good manner when talking to people
• have basic computing skills
• be open minded and non-judgmental
• enjoy helping people
• have good literacy and numeracy skills and be able to pay attention to detail

Time commitment required
3 hours per week for sessions and extra time for training purposes. In addition to this 1-2 hours per month may be required for volunteer meetings. Days of the week are dependent on which Advice Centre is open and some centres operate on a rota basis.
